Legal & privacy
The short version
oldrusty is a free, non-commercial fan project. We are not connected to any game publisher, we host no game content, and you supply your own disc. Online Play stores a username and a password hash, and little else.

No affiliation
oldrusty and its rewrite of Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelists of the Roses are independent projects. They are not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored or approved by Konami, Konami Digital Entertainment, Studio Dice or Kazuki Takahashi, or by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Trademarks
Yu-Gi-Oh!, The Duelists of the Roses, PlayStation and PS2 are trademarks of their respective owners. We name them in plain text only, to say what our software is compatible with. We don't use their logos, artwork or typefaces, and they are not part of our brand name, logos or domain. Where a page is titled with a game's name, it is to say plainly which game the rewrite is for, next to an "unofficial" notice.
No game content
- This site hosts no game files, audio, video or text from any game. The screenshots on the game page are captures of our rewrite running with a disc import, to show what it looks like; they are not taken from the original game or from elsewhere.
- Our downloads contain only our own program code and our own artwork (such as the launcher's icons).
- To play, you supply an image of your own original disc. The launcher reads it once and stores what it needs on your PC. The disc image is never changed and nothing from it is uploaded anywhere.
- We don't share disc images, and we don't link to sites that do.
Your part
Use a disc image made from a copy of the game you own. Keep your import to yourself: don't share the imported files or your disc image.
No warranty
The software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. It is beta software: keep backups of your saves.
Privacy
This website
No cookies, no analytics, no trackers, no third-party scripts or fonts. The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes standard request data (such as IP addresses) to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
Downloads
Releases are hosted on GitHub. When you download one, GitHub sees your request under its own privacy policy.
The launcher and the game
Everything the launcher and game write (your import, saves, settings and logs) stays in the game folder on your PC. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you use Online Play. Logs are only shared if you attach them to a bug report yourself.
Online Play account
If you make an Online Play account, the game server stores:
- Your username. Other players can see it.
- A hash of your password (Argon2id). Your password itself is never stored.
- Sign-in sessions, kept only as a hash of a random token, which expire after 30 days without use.
- Match results (who played whom, and the outcome).
No e-mail address or real name is asked for. While you are connected the server also sees your IP address, which is used to run the connection and to limit abuse such as repeated sign-in attempts. Connections are encrypted. To have your account deleted, contact us below.
Licence
Our source code is open: every repository is dual-licensed under the MIT licence or the Apache License 2.0, at your option. The licences cover our code and artwork only, never anything from a game.
Contact
We don't use e-mail. Everything goes through GitHub:
- Questions and account deletion: open an issue in the game's repository, naming your account. Don't post your password or anything private there; we reply in the issue and may ask you to confirm from inside the account that the request is yours.
- Rights holders: open an issue, or send a notice through GitHub's DMCA process. We will respond promptly and remove material on request.
- Security problems: report them privately with GitHub's private vulnerability reporting, not in a public issue.
